This morning, a partial solar eclipse was visible in The Netherlands. Unfortunately, the sky was covered with clouds, so for a long time I was not sure if I would get to see this spectacular phenomenon at all. Staying positive though, I picked up my gear and headed out. I had some locations in mind, because I knew I needed a foreground. I ended up near the KPN communications tower in Amsterdam.
It was freezing cold and still cloudy. I could notice the sky getting a bit darker. The horizons turned dark orange, and the metering of my camera moved slowly towards longer exposure times… Still no sign of the eclipse…
But then, a small and very short break in the clouds was just enough to take this picture. Yes!
